Rajshahi, April 17, (V7N)– A 45-year-old father, Akram Hossain, tragically lost his life after being brutally beaten with bricks by a group of local miscreants for protesting the eve-teasing of his daughter in the Talaimari Shaheed Minar area of Rajshahi city.

Akram, a bus driver and member of the Rajshahi District Motor Workers Union, had reportedly confronted a group of youths who were harassing his daughter. According to his family, those same youths later came to his house to threaten him, and on the night of April 16, around 10:30 PM, they allegedly carried out a lethal attack.

"He was trying to protect his daughter. Instead, he was murdered for standing up," said a grieving family member.

Eyewitnesses and family members claim individuals named Nantu, Vishal, and Ratan, among others, were involved in the attack. Akram sustained severe head injuries from the assault and was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead during treatment.

Mostaq Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Boalia Police Station, confirmed the incident, stating:

"A person was injured in a confrontation near Talaimari Shaheed Minar. He was taken to Ramech Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The body has been sent for an autopsy and efforts are ongoing to arrest the suspects."

This chilling act of mob violence has shocked the local community, prompting demands for immediate arrests and justice for Akram Hossain. The incident underscores the dangers faced by citizens who challenge gender-based harassment, as well as the urgent need for stronger protective measures and accountability mechanisms.

Local rights groups and residents are expected to rally for justice in the coming days, urging authorities to treat the incident with the severity it deserves and ensure such brutality does not go unpunished.
