Pabna, Apr 26 (V7N)- Residents of Bhangura Upazila have organized a protest and formed a human chain in Khanmarich Union to demonstrate against what they claim is propaganda being spread against the Union Parishad Chairman, Monowar Hossain Mithu.
The demonstration took place at Chandipur Bazar in Khanmarich Union on Saturday afternoon.
The event began with a protest march by local people from various backgrounds and professions, who paraded along the main road of the market. Following the march, they gathered to form a human chain on the same main road.
Several individuals addressed the gathering, including Khanmorich Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Monowar Hossain Khan Mithu, Ward No. 1 member Bellal Hossain, Ward No. 4 member Golam Kibria, Ward No. 6 member Abu Sayeed, Reserved Women UP member Jahanara Khatun, and local residents Habibur Rahman, Ariful Islam, and Nur Islam.
The speakers asserted that the development work carried out in Khanmarich Union under the TR (Test Relief) and Kabita (Work for Food) projects in the current fiscal year is unprecedented, emphasizing transparency and accountability in the project implementation. They alleged that a vested interest group has initiated a conspiracy, using false information to influence one or two journalists to report negatively on the work. The protestors condemned this alleged propaganda, demanded an investigation by the administration into the project work, and voiced their support for the UP Chairman.
Chairman Monowar Hossain Mithu stated that his union has many remote and underdeveloped villages that had previously been neglected in terms of development. He claimed that after becoming chairman, he prioritized the development of these areas, leading to significant work being done under the TR Kabita project this year, including the construction of roads in previously inaccessible areas. He refuted the reports by one or two journalists alleging misappropriation of funds and claimed he was being framed in a conspiracy. He urged the administration to inspect the completed project work and invited people to inquire with the local residents about the extent of development he has undertaken.
