Bagerhat, May 08 (V7N)- The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) conducted a raid on the Bagerhat office of the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) on Wednesday afternoon (May 7). The operation was led by Md. Saidur Rahman, Assistant Director of the ACC's Bagerhat District Office.

ACC Assistant Director Md. Saidur Rahman stated that the raid was carried out in response to complaints regarding customer harassment and violence perpetrated by brokers while seeking services at the BRTA office. He explained that at the outset of the operation, an ACC enforcement team posed as customers and detected active broker presence within the BRTA office premises. However, upon sensing the ACC's presence, the brokers quickly fled the scene.

Furthermore, the ACC team discovered evidence of unusual financial transactions on the mobile bKash accounts of several BRTA office officials. This included transaction records showing approximately 30,000 taka in transfers over 15 days and 10,000 taka on a single day. The ACC has initially found evidence suggesting that these transactions were facilitated through brokers involved in BRTA services. A comprehensive report is currently being prepared based on the gathered information, and legal action will be taken accordingly.
