DHAKA, May 08 (V7N)- The government has extended the magistracy powers of commissioned officers in the Army, Navy, and Air Force for an additional 60 days, effective from May 14th.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification to this effect on Thursday.

As per the notification, commissioned officers holding the rank of captain and above within the Bangladesh Armed Forces will continue to possess special executive magistrate powers across the entire country.

This authority has also been extended to military officers serving on deputation in the Coast Guard and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

The interim government initially granted these magistracy powers to commissioned army officers on September 17th of the previous year for a 60-day period, with the aim of improving law and order. Subsequent extensions were issued on January 12th and March 13th of this year.
