Natore, Dec 08 (V7N) – Train operations were briefly disrupted on Monday morning after a crack was detected on the railway track near pillar number 253 in Madhnagar under Naldanga upazila. Local residents first noticed the crack on the southern side of Madhnagar Railway Station and informed station authorities.

According to Bangladesh Railway officials, the fracture occurred due to the intense cold, which commonly causes metal contraction on rail tracks during winter. Following the report, a repair team arrived at the site around 11:00 a.m. and completed emergency restoration to ensure safe movement of trains.

Residents said they spotted the crack on Line No. 1 south of Madhnagar Railway Station and immediately notified the stationmaster. The stationmaster then alerted senior railway officials, who dispatched maintenance workers to repair the damaged section.

Madhnagar Stationmaster Abdul Awal and trolleyman Julfikar Hossain confirmed that after receiving the information, they promptly informed higher authorities. Railway engineers and workers reached the spot without delay and repaired the cracked portion by late morning. During this period, trains were instructed to pass through the area at reduced speed.

Railway officials stated that sudden temperature drops during winter often lead to such cracks, emphasizing the need for increased monitoring of vulnerable track segments.
