Habiganj, Dec 19 (V7N) — A violent clash erupted between residents of Haritla and Shivjaynagar villages in Baghasura Union, Madhabpur Upazila, over the ownership of a local playground, leaving at least 20 people injured on Thursday afternoon.

According to local sources, the conflict began when several youths from Shivjaynagar village went to play football on the field, which prompted residents of Haritla to confront them. A verbal dispute quickly escalated into physical violence, during which some youths from Shivjaynagar were beaten.

Later, both village groups gathered near Badsha Company, where the situation intensified into a larger clash. Concerned locals called the police emergency line (999), and law enforcement quickly arrived to bring the situation under control.

Local elders mediated between the two groups, leading to a temporary resolution. Injured individuals were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Police confirmed that the situation is now under control.

Local Union Parishad member Md. Harun Mia stated that the disputed playground belongs to Shivjaynagar village, and he is unsure why Haritla residents are claiming it. Tensions, however, remain high between the two villages.
