Bagerhat, Dec 31 (V7N) — A Prayer Mahfil was organised on Tuesday by the Jiudhara Union BNP in Morrelganj upazila of Bagerhat, seeking the forgiveness and eternal peace of the departed soul of Begum Khaleda Zia, the three-time former prime minister and widely known uncompromising leader of Bangladesh.

The prayer gathering was held at the Madrasa Bazar area on Tuesday noon, where a brief discussion meeting was also arranged. Addressing the programme, KM Mohiuddin Khan Ripon, former president of Jiudhara Union BNP and the eldest son of former chairman Khan Mozammel Hossain Haq, recalled the political life and sacrifices of Begum Khaleda Zia.

He said Khaleda Zia would remain a source of inspiration for generations due to her steadfast leadership, courage, and lifelong struggle for democracy and the rights of the people.

Among others who spoke at the programme were upazila BNP leader Gias Uddin Talukdar, former assistant vice-president of Khulna Metropolitan Chhatra Dal GS Ripon, Bagerhat District Jatiyatabadi Motshojibi Dal President Nazrul Islam, BNP leader Alam Hawladar, and Swechchhasebak Dal leader Sojol Sheikh.

Leaders and activists from various BNP-affiliated organisations were present, including union BNP leaders Auwal Hawladar and Jahid Khan, Sramik Dal President Dulal Hawladar and General Secretary Saiful Islam, BNP leaders Kabir Sheikh, Selim Hawladar, Shahajan Sheikh, Daud Mridha, Nurul Haque, Krishak Dal President Jamal Munshi, former student leader Riazul Islam Ghorami, Al Mamun, and many others.

Special prayers were offered for the forgiveness of Begum Khaleda Zia, and after the doa mahfil, tabarruk was distributed among the attendees.
