Mongla, Jan 26 (V7N) — On Sunday evening at 8 PM, the Hindu, Buddhist, and Christian Welfare Front organized a discussion meeting at Hotel Tiger in Mongla town to show support for the BNP’s ‘Dhaner Shish’ symbol. The event was attended as chief guest by Lion Dr. Sheikh Faridul Islam, the BNP-nominated candidate for Bagerhat-03 (Mongla-Rampal) constituency.

During the meeting, over 300 men and women from minority communities pledged their support to the ‘Dhaner Shish’ symbol by joining the BNP and placing their hands in the candidate’s hand. Lion Dr. Sheikh Faridul Islam warmly welcomed the new members and extended his greetings.

The new BNP members said that although they had been associated with other political parties in the past, they joined the BNP due to the current changed circumstances. They claimed that their previous affiliations only exploited them, labeling them as minorities to create division. Since August 5, however, the BNP has provided them with full support and security, which prompted their decision to join the party and participate in the ‘Dhaner Shish’ campaign. They expressed that after the national election, their only expectation from Lion Dr. Sheikh Faridul Islam would be security.

Also present at the meeting were Mongla Upazila BNP President A. Mannan Howlader, General Secretary Abu Hossain Poni, Mongla Municipality BNP Organizational Secretary Nasir Talukdar, and Subrata Majumdar, Central Joint Secretary of the Hindu, Buddhist, and Christian Welfare Front.

Regarding the safety of the newly joined minority members, Lion Dr. Sheikh Faridul Islam assured that full security would be provided. He emphasized that there is no such thing as a “minority” label and that such labels were previously used to divide people. He said that if BNP comes to power, such distinctions will no longer exist, as all citizens, regardless of religion or community, have equal rights. He further promised to ensure the safety of Hindu, Christian, and Buddhist communities in the constituency and to stand by them, ensuring no one could harass or exploit them.
