LAKSHMIPUR, Feb 12, (V7N) - BNP candidate for Lakshmipur-3 constituency, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee, has expressed satisfaction with the overall voting environment after casting his ballot this morning.
Speaking to reporters after voting at the Lamchari Government Primary School polling centre in the town, Anee said the long-awaited aspirations of the people were being reflected through the election process.
“The long-awaiting hopes of the people are going to be reflected. People have had to struggle for this election for a long time. So far, the voting environment has been very good. If the voting environment continues like this and people can vote in a festive atmosphere, then I am optimistic about my victory,” he said.
Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Dr. Rezaul Karim Choupalli cast his vote at the Kalidas High School polling centre. He also expressed satisfaction with the situation, saying, “The voting atmosphere is good. I am optimistic about my victory.”
Voting began at 7:30 am in a festive and peaceful environment at 496 polling centres across four constituencies in Lakshmipur district under tight security arrangements.
In the morning hours, the presence of women voters was noticeably higher than that of men at several centres.
A total of 29 candidates, representing BNP, Jamaat, NCP and other parties, are contesting in the district’s four constituencies. The total number of registered voters in Lakshmipur stands at 1,637,956.
To ensure law and order, around 10,000 members of law enforcement agencies, including police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and Ansar, have been deployed across the district.
