PATHARGHATA, February 23, (V7N) — The Barguna District Detective Branch (DB) arrested a suspected drug dealer with 100 pieces of Yaba tablets during a targeted operation in Patharghata on Sunday. The arrest took place in the Launchghat Road area of Ward No. 7 under Patharghata Municipality.
The arrested individual has been identified as Md. Amir, 38, son of the late Obaidul Haque and a resident of the Iman Ali Road area in the same ward. Acting on a tip-off, a DB team led by the Officer-in-Charge and SI Md. Abul Kalam Azad conducted the raid on the paved road in front of Anwar Hossain Government Primary School.
During a search of the suspect, law enforcement recovered 100 illegal Yaba tablets with an estimated market value of approximately 30,000 BDT. Following the recovery, SI Abul Kalam Azad filed a formal case against the suspect at Patharghata Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act, 2018.
This operation is part of an ongoing crackdown by the Barguna District Police to curb the spread of narcotics in the coastal region. Authorities have signaled that surveillance will be increased around launch terminals and educational institutions to dismantle local drug distribution networks.
