JHALAKATHI, March 1, (V7N) - Residents of Rajapur Upazila in Jhalakathi are suffering due to the long-abandoned road construction near Nalbunia Bazar in Kanudaskathi. The incomplete work has left loose sand and dirt, creating daily dust storms that are causing widespread health problems.
Locals report that children, the elderly, and general residents are facing breathing difficulties, coughs, colds, and skin diseases. Traders and worshippers complain that travel to mosques, madrasas, and homes has become extremely difficult, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
Community members allege that the contractor failed to complete the road within the stipulated time, leaving the area in disarray. Dust pollution has worsened the environment, and residents fear the situation will deteriorate further if the work is not resumed quickly.
Traders of Nalbunia Bazar have demanded immediate renovation and completion of the road, urging the Rajapur Upazila administration to intervene. They insist the contractor’s name be disclosed and held accountable for the delay.
Local leaders say urgent action is needed to restore normal life and prevent further health hazards. Residents continue to appeal for swift government measures to complete the project and end their suffering.
