Bhola, Apr 21 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Coast Guard has seized 4,400 liters of stolen petrol during a oporation on the Meghna River in Daulatkhan Upazila.

The raid was carried out on Monday night (April 20) near Chowki Ghat in the Meghna River, based on confidential intelligence.

Petrol seized, suspects escape

According to Coast Guard officials, the fuel was recovered from a trawler during a search operation. However, those involved managed to flee the scene after sensing the presence of law enforcement personnel.

The seized petrol is estimated to be worth around Tk 5.94 lakh in the market.

Legal action underway

Authorities said necessary legal action will be taken through a mobile court regarding the confiscated fuel.

The Coast Guard also reiterated its commitment to continuing oporation against fuel smuggling and other illegal activities in coastal and riverine areas.
