JHALAKATHI, April 21 (V7N) — The 2026 SSC and equivalent examinations began in Kanthalia upazila of Jhalakathi on Tuesday in a festive and disciplined atmosphere, with authorities ensuring strict transparency measures.

An inspection of six exam centers revealed that every hall has been brought under CCTV surveillance, monitored directly from the Upazila Control Room. Law enforcement personnel were seen on alert duty, while guardians gathered outside in large numbers to support the candidates.

According to the Upazila Education Office, exams are being held at Kanthalia Government Pilot High School, Kanthalia Girls High School, Amir Molla Secondary School, Chalita Bunia Secondary School, Amua Chan Mia Fazil Madrasa, and Kanthalia Sadar Fazil Madrasa. Out of 1,635 registered students, 1,465 sat for the first day’s exam, while 170 were absent for unavoidable reasons.

Upazila Executive Officer Md. Maqbul Hossain inspected the centers and told reporters that the installation of CCTV cameras had “greatly increased the quality and transparency of the examination,” adding that the administration is determined to ensure a fair and cheating‑free environment.

Parents waiting outside welcomed the initiative, saying it would allow meritorious students to be evaluated fairly and reflect their true abilities.
