HABIGANJ, April 21, (V7N) — Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized a huge consignment of banned Indian medicines and cigarettes worth about Tk 2 crore during an operation in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj.
According to a press release, the 55 Habiganj Battalion (BGB) conducted the raid based on secret information. Around noon, an operational team took position near the Muktijoddha Chattar area and stopped a suspicious truck. A search revealed sacks hidden under bricks containing large quantities of illegal Indian medicines and drugs, banned from import.
Colonel Md. Tanzilur Bahman, commander of 55 BGB, said the estimated value of the seized goods is Tk 22 million. He confirmed that the process of handing over the contraband to the customs office is underway.
The operation was part of BGB’s regular drives to strengthen border security and prevent smuggling.
