An emergency meeting of the Cox's Bazar District Disaster Management Committee was held to address Cyclone 'Remal'.
 
The meeting took place on Saturday (May 25) at 5 PM in the Shaheed Jafar Alam CSP Conference Room at the office of the Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Shaheen Imran.
 
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Shaheen Imran. Relevant officials from the district and upazila levels attended the meeting.
 
After hearing the preparedness reports from disaster-related officials, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Shaheen Imran urged not only the concerned authorities but also the hotel and motel zones to extend a helping hand in times of disaster as needed. Instructions were given to Roads and Highways and Fire Services to be ready for emergency rescues. Local councilors have been instructed to relocate people from risky areas to prevent landslides. Additionally, he informed that the municipality has been directed to arrange for food and khichuri.
 
Superintendent of Police (SP) Mahfuzul Islam mentioned that they have tackled many cyclones like Hamoon and Mocha together and expressed hope that this time everyone would work together as well. He instructed everyone to ensure awareness among the marginalized people and bring them to shelters for safety. He also advised keeping rechargeable lights ready for use at night.
 
The Deputy Director of the District CPP (Cyclone Preparedness Program) mentioned that CPP volunteers are active in seven upazilas. A total of 8,000 volunteers are working across the Cox's Bazar district. There are 1,300 volunteers in Cox's Bazar itself. The volunteer teams will start campaigning immediately after Signal No. 4 is issued. Additionally, 880 Red Crescent volunteers are prepared. Each upazila has 50 workers.
 
According to the District Relief and Rehabilitation Office, 638 shelters have been prepared to tackle Cyclone 'Remal'. Additionally, 8,600 volunteers and 2,200 CPP members are ready to participate in emergency tasks.
 
The district administration has stated that they are prepared to deal with the disaster. The district administration has a stockpile of 486 metric tons of rice, 275,000 cash taka, 23 bundles of corrugated iron sheets, and 69,000 taka for house construction grants. However, there is no stock of dry food.
