New York, Dec 30, (V7N) - Tina Knowles is responding to critics of her daughter Beyoncé's headline-making halftime show on Christmas Day.

Beyoncé performed during the Houston Texans vs. Baltimore Ravens game, which was streamed on Netflix. She wore sparkling white Western-style clothes and performed a live version of “Texas Hold ‘Em” from her latest album, Cowboy Carter. Beyoncé was joined on stage by Shaboozey, Post Malone, and her daughter Blue Ivy Carter, 12, who danced alongside her mom.

Some fans and critics complained that the performance focused too much on cover songs and lacked a Christmas theme. In response, Beyoncé’s mom, Tina Knowles, posted a message on Instagram, supporting a fan's comment that “no matter how undeniably talented you are, people will always, ALWAYS, always have some negative things to say.”

Tina added, “It is mind-boggling to me that you would take your precious Christmas day and watch a performance of someone you hate and you don’t think has talent so that you can talk badly about it later. Obviously, you are so obsessed with them, addicted to them, and secretly admire them, that you cannot help but watch, critique, and comment. So go to another channel and watch something you can relate to, like goofy cartoons or something.”

She ended with, “I have learned so much from Beyoncé’s warrior spirit, of when they go low, I work harder.”

Beyoncé’s friends, including Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer, supported her mom’s message. LeToya Luckett, a former member of Destiny’s Child, responded with emojis, and Uzo Aduba shared a supportive message as well. Octavia Spencer posted multiple fire emojis, and Sunny Anderson added, “There's a thin line between love and hate, and often haters don't realize they are actually in love."

The halftime show, called the "Beyoncé Bowl," drew 27 million U.S. viewers, making it the most-watched Christmas Day game for viewers aged 18-34, with 5.1 million viewers. The show is now available as a special on Netflix.

The day after the show, Beyoncé posted a teaser video showing herself riding a white horse and waving an American flag, along with the date “Jan. 14,” leaving fans excited for what’s next.
