Mumbai, 20 June 2024 – Legendary Bollywood playback singer Alka Yagnik has revealed that she has been diagnosed with a rare sensory nerve disease, leading to a sudden loss of hearing. The celebrated artist shared this news on her verified Instagram account on Monday, June 17.

In her post, Yagnik described the shocking experience of losing her hearing abruptly while leaving an airport a few weeks ago. She conveyed the emotional and physical toll it has taken, likening it to a sudden and overwhelming shock to the body. 

Yagnik urged her fans and colleagues to avoid loud noises and use headphones cautiously to protect their hearing. She also requested her followers to keep her in their thoughts and prayers during this challenging time.

The post garnered an outpouring of support from the music and film industry. Renowned composer AR Rahman commented, "Wishing you a speedy recovery. Prayers and love." Fellow singer Sonu Nigam wrote, "I felt that all was not right. I will see you again. Get well soon."
