Dhaka, Sep 09 (V7N) – Veteran painter and theatre icon Mustafa Manowar has been placed on life support at a hospital in the capital after his health deteriorated further. The 89-year-old artist was admitted last Wednesday, and on Saturday afternoon, doctors decided to place him on life support due to his critical condition.

His wife, Mary Manowar, informed the media on Sunday night that his condition is highly complicated. Mustafa Manowar, who has been battling pneumonia and prostate cancer for an extended period, underwent treatment in India earlier this year and returned home in May. Since then, he has also undergone radiation therapy.

Mustafa Manowar is a celebrated cultural figure in Bangladesh, widely recognised as the "puppet man" of the country. He is particularly known for his work in the beloved children's program Shishutosh. As an artist and cultural advocate, Manowar's contributions to Bangladesh’s arts and theatre scene have been monumental.

This health crisis comes just a week after Mustafa Manowar celebrated his 89th birthday on 1 September. The nation is praying for his recovery.
