Dhaka, Feb 23 (V7N)- International Crimes Tribunal Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam has alleged that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina instructed hospital authorities to deny medical treatment to severely injured protesters during the July-August uprising.

Speaking at a press briefing at the tribunal's prosecution office on Sunday (Feb 23), he claimed that Sheikh Hasina visited Pangu Hospital and directed doctors with the instruction: "No treatment, no release."

The Chief Prosecutor stated, "In addition to the patients, the doctors there also informed us about these instructions. We have the evidence in our hands, and we have informed the court today about it."

He further alleged that families of those killed in the protests were denied proper funeral rites. According to him, some bodies were not allowed to be cremated, and some victims did not receive death certificates. He claimed that even those who died from bullet wounds had their cause of death manipulated on official records.

Mohammad Tajul Islam asserted that the United Nations human rights report had already revealed that the July Movement genocide was carried out under Sheikh Hasina’s orders.

These allegations are significant and could have far-reaching implications. However, as of now, there has been no official response from the government or Sheikh Hasina’s representatives regarding the claims.

Legal and human rights experts suggest that a thorough investigation is needed to verify these claims and assess their implications. Meanwhile, political analysts predict that these allegations could escalate tensions in Bangladesh’s political landscape.
