Dhaka, April 21, (V7N) – As part of an ongoing initiative to strengthen policing infrastructure in the capital, Home Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury announced that newly constructed buildings for 10 police stations under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) will be inaugurated on September 1.

In an exclusive interview with BSS, the Home Adviser said 25 police stations in Dhaka currently lack their own facilities, and the government is working in phases to construct new buildings on dedicated land for each.

“This is part of our broader goal to modernize police services and bring them closer to the people,” Jahangir said, adding that funds are being raised to support this infrastructural development.

He emphasized the importance of improving service delivery and ensuring the visibility of law enforcement:“Our duty is to serve the people. Law enforcement agencies are working round the clock to uphold that commitment.”

Responding to questions about national security, Jahangir stated that the law and order situation is improving steadily, attributing the progress to the sincere efforts of the interim government. He expressed optimism that it would continue to improve over time.

The Home Adviser also noted:

Police stations damaged during the July mass uprising will be rebuilt.

The police force faces an acute vehicle shortage, but steps are underway to procure more.

Plans are in motion to revamp the police’s logo and uniforms as part of a broader modernization effort.

Jahangir reiterated the government’s tough stance on lawlessness:

“We have directed law enforcement to take immediate action against miscreants trying to destabilize the country.”

He also warned of strict action against any police personnel failing to act, including in cases involving sudden processions by the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).

Highlighting efforts to improve police morale, the adviser said the government is committed to:

Ensuring proper accommodation and improved diet for police

Personally visiting police stations to assess conditions on the ground

He concluded by thanking law enforcement for ensuring public safety and the smooth Eid-ul-Fitr holiday travel.
