Dhaka, Mar 31 (V7N) – The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has launched a major road and sewerage development project from Mirpur-10 to Taltola aimed at tackling persistent waterlogging in the area.
The project was formally inaugurated this morning at Mirpur-10 Falpatti by DNCC Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan, who described the initiative as a significant step toward easing long-standing public suffering.
Under the project, around 4 kilometres of road will be developed, alongside the construction of modern drainage and sewerage systems on both sides of the road. This is expected to substantially reduce waterlogging during the monsoon season.
The work is being implemented under the IDRISP project, which focuses on improving damaged road infrastructure in DNCC Regions 2 and 4, along with service development in Region 5.
The DNCC administrator said the project is scheduled for completion by October 31 this year, expressing optimism that the work will be finished within the deadline if no major natural disaster occurs.
He also emphasized the importance of keeping footpaths free from encroachment and sought cooperation from local residents to ensure smooth implementation.
DNCC Chief Engineer Syed Raqibul Hasan, Project Director Khandaker Mahbub Alam, along with other officials and representatives from political and social organizations, were present at the event.
