DHAKA, APR 20 (V7N) - Germany has expressed interest in working with Bangladesh to strengthen water resource management and safeguard the environment.

German Ambassador to Dhaka Rudiger Lotz conveyed the interest during a courtesy call on Water Resources Minister Md Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee at his office today.

During the meeting, both sides discussed issues of mutual concern, including the proper use of surface and groundwater, climate change, and sustainable water management practices.

Minister Anee highlighted Germany’s role as a major development partner and sought Berlin’s cooperation in preventing river pollution, addressing floods and waterlogging, and ensuring effective water resource management.

Water Resources Secretary Dr. AKM Shahabuddin and Head of Development at the German Embassy Ulich Klepmann were also present at the meeting.
