Citizens Must Act Responsibly for National Transformation: Deputy Speaker

Netrokona, Sept 28 (V7N) – Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal today said that if citizens do not act responsibly, it will never be possible for the government alone to transform the country into a developed and effective state.

"This Bangladesh belongs to me, to you, and to all of us. To keep the country on the right path, we must all do our part from wherever we are," he said while speaking as the chief guest at a canal-cleaning and cleanliness campaign held in Durgapur upazila under the nationwide "Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Campaign-2026."

More than a hundred workers of the volunteer organization 'BD Clean' spontaneously participated in the programme, organized with the aim of reducing the nationwide dengue outbreak and increasing public awareness.

Praising the initiative taken by BD Clean volunteers, Kayser Kamal said, "The canal that the BD Clean volunteers have come to clean today has remained in such a deplorable condition for nearly two decades. I express my deep gratitude to the Upazila Administration, the Municipal Administrator, and all the BD Clean volunteers for taking such a wonderful initiative."

Expressing his determination to move forward by learning from past mistakes, he further said, "I urge everyone to either leave the past behind or learn from it, and work together to build Bangladesh's present and future. Through our collective efforts, we can ensure that the next generation inherits a happy and beautiful country."

The nationwide "Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Campaign-2026" was launched by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on September 12, 2026, to combat dengue and promote cleanliness across the country. The campaign involves coordinated efforts by government agencies, volunteer organizations, and citizens to destroy mosquito breeding grounds, maintain regular cleanliness, and raise public awareness. BD Clean, a volunteer organization dedicated to cleanliness and environmental protection, has been actively participating in the campaign across various districts.
