Dhaka, Mar 20 (V7N) – Jamaat-e-Islami has formally submitted its views on the constitutional reform proposal to the Constitutional Reform Commission. On Thursday (March 20) morning, a Jamaat delegation, led by Miah Golam Parwar, visited the National Consensus Commission to present their reform recommendations.
The party has structured its proposals based on the recommendations of five commissions:
- Constitution
- Administration
- Judiciary
- Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC)
- Election Commission
Speaking to the media after submitting the proposal, Jamaat Secretary General Miah Golam Parwar emphasized that fair elections are their priority rather than a specific timeframe for national elections. He stated, “Jamaat-e-Islami is willing to allow reasonable time for essential reforms.”
Meanwhile, Professor Ali Riaz, head of the Constitutional Reform Commission, noted that political parties are cooperating without hesitation or doubt regarding the reform process. He confirmed that BNP is expected to submit its reform proposals within the next two days.
The National Consensus Commission plans to hold discussions with four political parties before Eid, while consultations with other parties will begin on April 7 after the Eid holidays. Dr. Ali Riaz assured that the commission is committed to completing its work within the stipulated timeframe.
