Rajshahi, Nov 15 (V7N) – BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged that a political group is attempting to create internal divisions within the party. He urged BNP leaders and grassroots workers to remain alert and united amid what he described as an organized effort to destabilize the party from within.
He made the remarks on Saturday morning while addressing a gathering in Godagari after offering prayers at the grave of the late BNP Vice Chairman Barrister Aminul Haque. During the event, he introduced Major General (Retd.) Sharif Uddin, who has received the party’s primary nomination for the Rajshahi-1 (Godagari–Tanore) constituency, and called on all local members to work collectively in support of his candidacy.
“A group is trying to trigger division inside the BNP for their own political gain,” Mirza Fakhrul said. “Leaders and activists must remain vigilant. There is no room for internal conflict or factionalism at this critical time.”
He further stated that another political party is “desperate for power,” but past experiences show that such forces are incapable of bringing positive change to the country or restoring institutional discipline.
Reflecting on the contributions of the late Barrister Aminul Haque, the BNP Secretary General said he had played a significant role in the development of the constituency during his tenure as Member of Parliament and minister. He added that acting BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman nominated Haque’s brother, Sharif Uddin, for the upcoming election and urged all party activists to support him with unity and determination.
Among those accompanying Mirza Fakhrul during the grave visit were Sharif Uddin, BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Mizanur Rahman Minu, former Rajshahi City Mayor Mohammad Mosaddeque Hossain Bulbul, and other senior leaders of the party. Following the programme, he departed for Chapainawabganj.
