Mongla, Nov 15 (V7N) – Jamaat-e-Islami held an Ulema conference on Saturday afternoon at the Mongla Port Workers and Employees Union ground, organized by the party’s municipal branch. The event brought together religious scholars and party leaders to discuss the party’s future role in society and governance.
Addressing the conference, Advocate Maulana Sheikh Abdul Wadud, a central Shura member of Jamaat-e-Islami, Naib Amir of Bagerhat district, and parliamentary candidate for Bagerhat-03 (Mongla-Rampal), said that if the party is elected to power, its leaders would serve as public servants rather than rulers. “If we are entrusted with power, we will act as servants of the people, not as rulers. We will not take government resources or privileges. Our work will focus on safeguarding citizens’ rights,” he said.
He added that societal change requires good individuals, emphasizing that reforms cannot be achieved through political programs alone. “To give our nation a better future, we must work to build a society of good people and uphold noble values,” he said.
The conference was also attended by Bagerhat-01 parliamentary candidate Maulana Moshiur Rahman, Bagerhat District Amir Maulana Rezaul Karim, President of the Bagerhat District Ulema Division Maulana Altaf Hossain, President of Mongla Upazila Ulema Division Maulana Abdul Rahman, and Mongla municipal branch Amir M.A. Bari, among others.
The gathering highlighted Jamaat-e-Islami’s emphasis on moral leadership, public service, and the importance of religious guidance in shaping societal development.
