Dhaka, Jan 28 (V7N) — BNP Standing Committee member and party-nominated candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency Mirza Abbas has said that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) does not want to engage in quarrels or create trouble with any political opponent.
He made the remarks while addressing a mass meeting during his election campaign on Wednesday afternoon.
“Insha Allah, victory is at our doorstep,” Mirza Abbas said, urging party leaders and activists to remain cautious and not fall into any conspiracy.
Referring to his long political experience, he said BNP has a history of participating in elections peacefully.
“BNP has held elections many times, and I personally have contested five to seven elections. From the elections of 1991 to today, there has been no incident of BNP attacking any opponent. Elections were held in a festive atmosphere,” he said.
Without naming any party, Mirza Abbas alleged that certain political forces were attempting to tarnish BNP’s image. He claimed that such groups lack experience in both elections and governance and are engaged mainly in criticizing BNP rather than presenting their own agenda to the public.
He further called on party leaders and activists to remain patient in the face of provocation, stressing that any attempt to divert or disrupt the electoral process should be avoided.
“Conspiracies did not start today; they began long ago and are still continuing. Everyone must stay alert,” he said.
Mirza Abbas also stated that BNP is contesting elections in all 300 constituencies across the country and that elections are being held peacefully.
“Do not try to create unrest in the Dhaka-8 constituency. Whatever attempts are made, the people will respond through their votes,” he said, adding that the electorate would deliver its verdict through the ballot on the 12th.
