Dhaka, Feb 13 (V7N) — Salahuddin Ahmed, member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) standing committee and winner of Cox's Bazar-1 constituency, stressed the party’s commitment to strong governance and regional diplomacy following the 13th National Parliament election. Speaking at a briefing in Gulshan, Dhaka, on Friday afternoon, he said,

"BNP will work to maintain good relations with all neighboring countries."

Ahmed noted that the party’s victory was widely anticipated, with significant public participation linked to Tarique Rahman’s presence during the campaign. He said, "The foundation of a strong democracy has been laid in the country through the election."

Regarding the July Charter, he stated, "It is a symbol of political compromise, it will be followed to the letter." He added that the party aims to build a merit-based, technology-driven country to meet the expectations of the young generation and called for nationwide cooperation to achieve this goal.

Ahmed also highlighted three core priorities for the new government:

  1. Establishment of the rule of law.

  2. Creation of a corruption-free environment.

  3. Ensuring economic prosperity.

He further noted that after official gazette publication, elected members will take the oath according to constitutional procedures.

In the 13th National Parliament election, BNP and its allies won 213 out of 299 seats, marking a return to government for the party as a single entity after two decades.
