Las Vegas, Jan 11, (V7N) - Lionel Messi and Inter Miami are set to kick off their 2025 preseason with a five-match tour across North, Central, and South America. The tour begins on January 18 in Las Vegas, where Inter Miami will face Mexican champions Club America at Allegiant Stadium.
Next, Inter Miami will travel to Lima, Peru, to play Peruvian champions Club Universitario de Deportes on January 29 at Estadio Monumental. Following that, the team will head to Panama City on February 2 to take on Sporting San Miguelito at Estadio Rommel Fernández Gutiérrez.
On February 8, the team will face Honduran giants Club Deportivo Olimpia at Estadio Olímpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. The tour will conclude with an in-state match against MLS rivals Orlando City at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, on February 14.
This year’s preseason is lighter than last year's international tour, which included matches in El Salvador, Dallas, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. However, Messi’s presence continues to attract fans across the Americas, enhancing the visibility of the MLS club ahead of the 2025 season.
In 2025, Messi and Inter Miami will compete in several prestigious tournaments, including the Champions Cup, Club World Cup, and Leagues Cup, while also defending their Supporters' Shield title and aiming for a postseason berth in the MLS Cup playoffs.
"We’re very excited to unveil the five matches against domestic and international opponents across the Americas that will prepare us for a highly anticipated 2025," said Raúl Sanllehi, Inter Miami's president of football operations.
Inter Miami will begin the Concacaf Champions Cup with a match against Sporting Kansas City on February 18 at Children’s Mercy Park, followed by a season opener against New York City FC on February 22 at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The second leg of their Champions Cup matchup against Sporting Kansas City will take place on February 25 at the same venue.
In addition to Messi, the team will see a new coach in 2025, with Javier Mascherano, Messi's longtime teammate, replacing Tata Martino, who resigned after last season.
