Despite not being able to directly qualify for the Olympics in Paris, Rabiul Islam "has a chance to participate in the Paris Olympic Games."

Robiul Islam, a shooter from Bangladesh, nearly missed his opportunity to directly qualify for the Paris Olympics after failing to advance to the Asian Shooting Championship's final round, which was held in Jakarta on Wednesday.

This year's Paris Olympics will take place in July and August.

Previously, Roman Shana, a well-known archer from Bangladesh, qualified directly for the Olympics in Tokyo.

Robiul Islam competed in the Asian Shooting Championship's men's 10-meter air rifle competition, which served as a qualifying event for the Olympics in Paris. He finished with a score of 628.0, missing the cut.

With a score of 628.3, Indonesian shooter Fathu advanced to the Asian Shooting Championship's eight-man final round and, subsequently, earned a spot in the Olympics alongside shooters from China, Korea, and India.

Rabiul Islam, together with another shooter Shyera Arefin, asked for a wild card to the IOC, thus even if they were not able to directly qualify for the Olympics in Paris, they still have an opportunity to compete there.

In the present Asian Shooting Championship, the other rifle shooters from Bangladesh, including Robiul Islam, also put on disappointing performances.

In the men's competition, Bangladeshi Zidan Hossain placed 21st with a score of 625.4, and Sharar Arnob placed 32nd with a score of 623.3.

Shyera Arefin placed 18th in the women's division with a score of 626.8, followed by Chowdhury Zafira in 27th place with a score of 625.1 and Kamrun Nahar Koly in 34th place with a score of 624.0.
