Dhaka, Oct 13 (V7N): Four additional deaths from dengue were reported in the 24 hours leading up to Sunday morning, raising the total fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh this year to 214.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), during this period, 660 more patients were admitted to hospitals due to the viral fever. Among these, 207 dengue patients were treated in hospitals under the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), while 121 were admitted in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

The latest fatalities included two deaths in DSCC and one each in DNCC and Khulna division. Currently, there are approximately 3,610 patients receiving treatment in various hospitals nationwide.

Since January 1, a total of 42,470 dengue cases have been reported. In 2024, the situation escalated significantly, with 1,705 fatalities, marking it as the deadliest year on record, alongside 321,179 reported cases.
