Rangamati, Sept 11 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Army’s 11 RE Battalion has provided free medical treatment and essential medicines to underprivileged and vulnerable people in a remote area of Rangamati’s Kaptai upazila.
The medical camp was held on Thursday, Sept. 10, in Gobagna Bangali Para within the area of responsibility of the 11 RE Battalion under the Rangamati Region.
Poor and disadvantaged men, women and children traveled from surrounding areas to receive treatment at the camp. Many expressed relief after receiving free medical consultations and necessary medicines.
The medical initiative was conducted under the supervision of Lieutenant Colonel Raju Ahmed, PSC, commanding officer of the 11 RE Battalion, in line with the directives of the Chief of Army Staff.
The battalion’s medical officer examined patients attending the camp, provided necessary medical advice and distributed medicines free of charge according to prescriptions.
For local residents, the initiative was more than just a medical camp; it was seen as a humanitarian effort to support people living in remote and underserved communities. Free medical care was particularly important for those who cannot regularly afford treatment due to financial hardship.
The 11 RE Battalion said it would continue similar humanitarian activities in the future for the welfare of underprivileged and vulnerable communities.
Local residents expressed hope that the battalion would expand such initiatives beyond healthcare to include education, public awareness and other welfare-oriented programmes.
