Dhaka, Mar 08 (V7N) –BCS (Health) cadre doctors have announced a three-day work abstention to press for their two-point demand, including promotion.
In a press release issued on Friday, the "Specialist Doctors' Forum" declared that they would go on strike starting Saturday.
According to the press release, from Saturday onwards, government hospital doctors will observe a two-hour work stoppage each day for three consecutive days, beginning at 10am. However, emergency services will remain operational.
The statement also warned of an indefinite full-day work stoppage from Tuesday if their demands are not met.
The organization said: “These demands must be fulfilled promptly to ensure doctors' rightful entitlements. Otherwise, the country's healthcare system may face a prolonged crisis.”
Among other demands of the Specialist Doctors' Forum are the elimination of intra- and inter-cadre disparities and the promotion of all eligible third-grade doctors to the second and first grades within a specified period.
Several other specialist doctors' organizations have also announced their participation in the three-day work stoppage starting Saturday.
