Palestinian Territories, Nov 5 V7N- Israel’s intensified military campaign in Gaza has now led to attacks on Kamal Adwan Hospital, reportedly the last functioning hospital in northern Gaza. The situation has resulted in multiple injuries to staff and patients, with the World Health Organization condemning the incident as “appalling,” noting that child patients were harmed. The Israeli military has said it is verifying these reports.
In a further escalation, Israel has also formally announced the end of cooperation with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which provides essential services to Palestinians. Israel claims UNRWA is problematic due to some of its staff's alleged connections to Hamas, the group responsible for a significant attack on October 7. This move has raised global concerns, as UNRWA is a primary source of humanitarian aid in Gaza. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed concern, saying that there is “no alternative” to UNRWA for the Palestinian population.
Meanwhile, the conflict has intensified in other areas as well. Hezbollah has increased its rocket fire into Israel from Lebanon, leading Israel to carry out further airstrikes in southern Lebanon, where Hezbollah forces are based. The situation has drawn in Iran-backed groups across the region, with tensions escalating and fears of a wider regional conflict becoming more pronounced.
