Kathmandu, Sep 10 (V7N) – Even after the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Nepal continues to grapple with widespread unrest. Angry students and citizens remain on the streets, with incidents of arson, looting, and mass prison breaks reported in two western districts, according to Nepal’s state media and international outlets.

The situation remains tense in Kathmandu and other major cities, where a curfew is in place until 6 a.m. Thursday. Authorities claim that the army has brought the situation under control, while security personnel continue patrolling streets and restricting movement except for emergencies.

Tribhuvan International Airport has been closed until 6 p.m. local time. Security forces have already arrested 26 protesters accused of looting. Meanwhile, Nepal’s President Ram Chandra Paudel urged all political groups and the public to exercise restraint to avoid further bloodshed.

The crisis began on Monday (Sept 8) when social media reopened after restrictions and massive protests erupted demanding Oli’s resignation. On Tuesday, he stepped down amid mounting public pressure.

In the aftermath, protesters set fire to Oli’s residence in Balakot, causing extensive damage. The former Prime Minister was evacuated by army helicopter to a secure location shortly after leaving office.

Adding to the turmoil, rumors surfaced that Oli may flee Nepal, with Indian media reporting that he is considering relocating to Dubai via private jet.
