Caracas, Jan 26 (V7N) — Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, has publicly pushed back against what she described as excessive pressure from the United States, saying her government has “had enough of Washington’s orders” and urging that Venezuela’s internal issues be resolved by Venezuelans themselves.
Rodríguez made the remarks on Sunday during a televised address at an event with oil workers in Puerto La Cruz in eastern Venezuela. She criticized continued external direction of Venezuelan politics and called on foreign powers to stop intervening in the country’s affairs. “Enough already of Washington’s orders over politicians in Venezuela,” she said, adding that the nation must address its differences and conflicts internally.
Her comments come nearly a month after U.S. forces captured former President Nicolás Maduro in early January, a dramatic event that significantly shifted Venezuela’s political landscape. In the aftermath, Rodríguez was sworn in as acting president by order of Venezuela’s Supreme Tribunal of Justice, a move the European Union has not recognized as legitimate.
Rodríguez also emphasized that differences with the U.S. should be addressed through diplomacy and direct engagement, and she urged national unity as her government seeks to navigate ongoing political and economic pressures.
Analysts say this public rebuke of U.S. influence highlights growing tensions between Rodríguez’s interim leadership and Washington, even as pressure continues over issues such as oil production and political transition.
