Mecca, May 19 (V7N) — The holy city of Mecca is preparing to welcome pilgrims from around the world during the Hajj season, turning the sacred site into a global hub of languages, cultures, and religious unity.
According to a report by Arab News on Monday (May 18), languages such as Arabic, Bengali, Urdu, Indonesian, Turkish, Persian, English, French, and Swahili will be widely heard across the city as millions of worshippers gather for the annual pilgrimage.
Saudi authorities have implemented extensive measures to reduce language barriers and improve communication for pilgrims. Sermons from the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque are being simultaneously translated into 10 languages, accessible through the “Manarat Al-Haramain” platform and FM radio services.
In addition, multilingual support systems—including wireless headsets, digital guidance cards, and electronic information boards—are being used to assist pilgrims in more than 50 languages. Printed religious materials and Qur’anic translations in multiple languages are also widely available inside the holy sites.
Field volunteers and support teams stationed across key locations are providing assistance in healthcare, security, and religious guidance to ensure smooth movement and safety for pilgrims.
Officials say these initiatives aim not only to improve communication but also to enhance the spiritual experience of the Hajj by making it more accessible to Muslims of all linguistic backgrounds worldwide.
