Amman, Jul 13 (V7N) — Jordan has claimed that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed four missiles launched from Iranian territory after they entered the country's airspace.

According to a report by Al Jazeera, the Jordanian military said its air defense units were activated after detecting the incoming missiles and successfully shot them down before they could reach their intended destinations.

However, Jordan's armed forces did not specify where the missiles had been headed or whether any debris caused damage or casualties on the ground.

The incident comes amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, following a series of military exchanges centered around the Strait of Hormuz, which have further heightened security concerns across the Middle East.

Jordan has repeatedly stated that it will take all necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty and protect its airspace from any violation.

Bordering Iraq, Syria and Israel, Jordan has remained on high alert in recent months as regional conflicts continue to spill across national boundaries, prompting the kingdom to strengthen its air defense readiness.
