Another tragic incident has occurred in the ongoing conflict in Gaza, as an Indian citizen working for the United Nations (UN) has lost his life in an Israeli attack. This marks the first time a foreign UN aid worker has been killed in such an assault.

According to a report by The Washington Post, the incident took place on Monday (May 13) when a car carrying aid workers was en route to a hospital near Rafah. The vehicle was targeted in the attack, resulting in injuries to both workers. Tragically, one of the aid workers, identified as Vaibhav Anil, succumbed to his injuries after being transported to the hospital.

The United Nations has issued a statement expressing sorrow over the loss of life and has called for a thorough investigation into the incident. United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has personally voiced his grief and urged authorities to conduct a comprehensive inquiry. Israeli forces have announced the commencement of an investigation into the matter.

This unfortunate event adds to the grim toll of the conflict, with over 190 UN staff members having lost their lives during the seven-month-long Israeli aggression. The incident underscores the urgent need for a resolution to the conflict and the protection of humanitarian workers who are providing essential aid to those affected by the violence.
