India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first in the second day-night Test against Australia at Adelaide Oval on Friday. India enters the match on a high after their dominant 295-run victory in the first Test in Perth. However, Australia has a strong record at this venue, having won all seven of their pink-ball Tests at the ground.

Rohit, who missed the opening Test due to the birth of his second child, remarked, "Looks a good pitch. It obviously looks a little dry at the moment but there's enough grass covering as well. There will be something in it for everyone."

India has kept the same opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul after their successful outing in Perth. Rohit will come in at number six, and Shubman Gill returns at three following his recovery from a fractured thumb, with Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel making way.

Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been included in the playing XI ahead of Washington Sundar after being left out in the first Test, aiming to add to his 536 Test wickets.

Australia made one change, bringing in Scott Boland to replace the injured Josh Hazlewood. Captain Pat Cummins acknowledged the challenging pitch conditions, stating, "Day one, pink ball, might be a bit of nip there for us," referring to the green tinge on the surface.
