French, Dec 14, (V7N) - Swedish prosecutors have dropped an investigation into rape allegations against French and Real Madrid football star Kylian Mbappé, citing insufficient evidence. The investigation stemmed from an incident on October 10, when Mbappé was reportedly in Stockholm, visiting a nightclub and staying at a hotel.

According to a statement from the Swedish Prosecution Authority on Thursday, a person was suspected of rape and two cases of sexual assault, but prosecutors determined there was not enough evidence to proceed. The individual under suspicion was never formally notified of being under investigation.

Mbappé has consistently denied the allegations, describing them as "FAKE NEWS" in an October post on X (formerly Twitter). His representatives at the time labeled the accusations as "totally false and irresponsible" and vowed to take legal action against what they called defamatory rumors intended to harm his reputation.

The case has been officially closed, and neither Mbappé nor his representatives have commented further on the matter since the prosecutors' announcement.

Mbappé has faced a challenging season with Real Madrid following his high-profile move from Paris Saint-Germain. Despite scoring nine league goals, his performances have been scrutinized, including two missed penalties in key games. However, he scored a crucial goal in Real Madrid's Champions League win over Atalanta earlier this week before sustaining aninjury.
