BRISBANE, Dec 18, (V7N) - The third Test between Australia and India in Brisbane seemed destined to end in a draw after rain continued to disrupt play on the final day.

India resumed on 252-9 in response to Australia’s first-innings total of 445, with Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep putting up a spirited last-wicket stand late Tuesday to avoid the follow-on.

Their resistance was short-lived on Wednesday morning, as Akash Deep was stumped by Alex Carey off the bowling of part-time spinner Travis Head, ending India’s innings at 260, just four overs into the day’s play.

Rain began falling during the innings break, forcing the umpires to call an early lunch as ground staff worked to protect the pitch and outfield.

Weather Woes

The Test has been heavily affected by persistent rain throughout the week, with large portions of Saturday and Monday completely washed out. Tuesday’s play was also disrupted three times, frustrating both players and fans.

Series Tied at 1-1

With time running out and more rain expected, the match appears unlikely to produce a result, leaving the five-match series tied at 1-1.

India claimed a commanding win in the first Test in Perth, but Australia responded with a dominant performance in Adelaide to level the series.

The focus now shifts to the iconic Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, where both teams will be eager to seize the advantage in what has been a fiercely contested series.
