Jan 11, (V7N) - Patrick Fishburn shot a bogey-free second round at the Sony Open in Hawaii, earning him a share of the lead with Denny McCarthy halfway through the tournament in Honolulu.

Fishburn posted his second consecutive 5-under-par 65 at Waialae Country Club, while McCarthy recorded a 66, putting both players at 10-under 130 for the tournament.

Eric Cole, Paul Peterson, and Japan's Kensei Hirata are tied for third place at 9 under, with Hirata achieving a 7-under performance in the second round. Lee Hodges, Alex Smalley, Zach Johnson, J.J. Spaun, and Austria's Sepp Straka are in sixth place, all at 8 under.

Japan's Hideki Matsuyama, fresh off a record victory at The Sentry the previous week in Kapalua, Hawaii, is tied for 42nd place at 4 under after shooting a 1-under 69 on Friday. Matsuyama previously won the Sony Open championship three years ago.
