PARIS, Jan 12, (V7N) – Adrien Rabiot's second-half header secured a vital 2-1 victory for Marseille against Rennes on Saturday, bringing them within four points of Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain.

Marseille, chasing their first French title since 2010, continued their strong form under Roberto De Zerbi, extending their unbeaten streak to six league matches.

Missed Opportunity for Rennes: Arnaud Kalimuendo squandered a chance to put Rennes ahead, hitting the woodwork from the penalty spot.

Rennes Strike First: Kalimuendo redeemed himself with a clinical finish in the 41st minute to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.

Marseille Equalize: Mason Greenwood scored his 11th Ligue 1 goal just before halftime, leveling the match and joining Lille's Jonathan David atop the scoring charts.

Rabiot’s Winner: Less than four minutes into the second half, Rabiot converted Greenwood’s cross to seal the comeback victory.

Despite a late penalty appeal overturned by VAR, Marseille defended resolutely to secure the win, leaving Rennes perilously close to the relegation play-off zone.

Brest Stun Lyon: Brest defeated Lyon 2-1, with Mahdi Camara and Ludovic Ajorque delivering early goals. Despite Jordan Veretout's first-half strike, Lyon couldn’t find an equalizer, dropping to sixth place.

Nice Climbs to Fourth: Gaetan Laborde’s double led Nice to a 4-2 triumph over Reims, pushing them ahead of Lyon in the standings.

PSG will look to restore their lead when they face Saint-Etienne on Sunday, while Marseille’s title hopes remain alive with this crucial win.
