Sydney, Feb 1 (V7N) — Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of next month’s ICC Champions Trophy due to a lingering back injury, Cricket Australia (CA) confirmed on Friday.

Marsh, who struggled with back pain during Australia’s recent Test series against India, has not responded well to treatment and will require an "extended period of rehabilitation," CA said in a statement.

"His lower back pain flared in recent weeks, leading the National Selection Panel to make the longer-term decision for Marsh to complete a more extended period of rehabilitation," the statement read.

Australia has yet to announce a replacement for Marsh, with the final squad submission deadline set for February 12.

The Champions Trophy, featuring eight teams, will take place from February 19 to March 9, with matches hosted in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
