Dhaka, July 8 (V7N) — Serious allegations have emerged against Nuruddin Hossain, a member of the current ad-hoc committee of the Bangladesh Taekwondo Federation, raising concerns over violations of national sports governance policies and potential misuse of official digital assets.

According to the complainant, Nuruddin Hossain—while serving as a policymaking member of the Federation’s ad-hoc committee formed via a gazette notification issued by the National Sports Council (NSC) on April 23, 2025—actively participated as a player for the Ansar and VDP team in the 21st National Senior/Junior Taekwondo Championship 2024. He reportedly competed in the male Poomsae category (aged 24–27), violating Article 7 of the NSC’s rules, which clearly state: “No active athlete may serve in an executive or policymaking role within a sports federation.”

Legal experts argue this constitutes a conflict of interest, undermining transparency, neutrality, and fairness in the functioning of the national sports body.

In addition, Nuruddin Hossain has been accused of unauthorized control and rebranding of the Federation’s official Facebook group. Evidence suggests that on June 19, 2025, he changed the name of the verified group “Bangladesh Taekwondo Federation Official Group” to “Bangladesh Taekwondo Association Official Group.” The group served as a digital hub for athletes, referees, coaches, and members nationwide. This alteration, allegedly conducted without formal consent, damages the Federation’s identity and misleads the public.

Further accusations link Hossain with Md. Uttam and controversial former general secretary Mahmudul Islam Rana in this digital misconduct. A sports law practitioner noted that these actions may fall under Sections 405 and 420 of the Penal Code and the Information and Communication Technology Act, 2018, constituting fraud and unauthorized use of a state-run organization’s identity.

In a formal complaint submitted to the Federation’s General Secretary, the complainant demanded three actions:

Immediate removal of Nuruddin Hossain from the ad-hoc committee.

Thorough investigation into all alleged misconducts under Federation and NSC rules.

Introduction of stricter policies to prevent future conflicts of interest.

Despite the gravity of the accusations, the Bangladesh Taekwondo Federation has not yet issued any official statement. However, sports organizers and legal observers caution that if the allegations are substantiated, the case could significantly tarnish the integrity and reputation of the national sports governing body.
