Lionel Messi is expected to be back on the field for Inter Miami’s home match against D.C. United this Saturday, following his recovery from a left knee injury. The star forward participated in full training with his teammates on Friday, having missed the goalless draw at Orlando City on Wednesday.

Manager Gerardo Martino shared his optimism about Messi's return, stating, "He trained well and we are optimistic. The plan is for him to play."

Messi, 36, picked up the injury during Inter Miami's 3-2 victory over Montreal last Saturday. Despite returning to the game shortly after the injury, he played through the discomfort in the second half at Saputo Stadium. "He received a knock to the knee which troubled him until yesterday," Martino explained.

Inter Miami currently tops the MLS Eastern Conference standings with 28 points from 14 games, maintaining a slim lead over second-placed Cincinnati, who have a game in hand.

Fans eagerly anticipate Messi's return as Inter Miami aims to solidify their position at the top of the table.
