Heavy fog has caused a delay in the resumption of the second round at the 106th PGA Championship at Valhalla, affecting the scheduling and grouping of players for the third round.

On Friday, darkness had halted play with 17 players still on the course. These players must complete their remaining holes on Saturday before the cut is made and groups for the third round are determined. Among those still playing, South African Dean Burmester holds the best score at 6-under, trailing the leaders by six strokes with two holes left to play.

Originally, players were set to start the third round in pairs from the first tee. However, to ensure the round is completed before sunset, they will now start from both the first and 10th tees in groups of three.

Xander Schauffele, the reigning Olympic champion, leads the tournament at 12-under par 136 after 36 holes, aiming for his first major victory. Close behind is Collin Morikawa, a two-time major winner, at 11-under, with Sahith Theegala just two strokes back at 10-under.

Scottie Scheffler, who shot a five-under-par 66 on Friday despite an early morning arrest, shares fourth place at 133 with Bryson DeChambeau, Mark Hubbard, and Belgium's Thomas Detry.
