Carlos Tevez, the former Manchester United and Manchester City striker, has resigned as the coach of Argentinian club Independiente. His departure comes after the club failed to qualify for the final phase of the Argentine League Cup and lost their first league match of the season 3-1 at home to Talleres de Cordoba.

Tevez, who arrived at Independiente last August, will lead the club for the last time on Sunday against Platense for the second match of the championship.

During his tenure, he managed to save the club from relegation and achieved a record of 14 wins, 11 draws, and six defeats in 31 matches.

This decision follows Tevez's coaching debut in 2022 with Rosario Central, where he resigned after five months due to differences with the club management. His illustrious playing career included successful stints in the Premier League with both Manchester clubs, as well as a spell with Juventus in Italy before his third and final playing contract with Boca Juniors.

At Manchester United, he won two Premier League titles and the 2008 Champions League. He also played a key role in helping Manchester City win the 2011-12 Premier League, their first English league title since 1968.

Additionally, Tevez won 76 caps for Argentina and was a member of the 2004 Olympic gold medal-winning team. Tevez's departure from Independiente comes at a challenging time for the club, which is also facing financial difficulties despite its rich history as a seven-time Copa Libertadores winner.

This news follows Tevez's recent release from the hospital after being admitted with chest pains, as reported by various sources. The departure of Carlos Tevez as the coach of Independiente marks a significant development in his post-playing career and adds to the rich tapestry of his contributions to football, both as a player and now as a coach.
