Shai Hope delivered a stellar performance, scoring an unbeaten 82 off just 39 balls, to power the West Indies to a resounding nine-wicket victory over the USA in their T20 World Cup Super Eights match on Friday. The Caribbean side chased down the target of 129 with ease, achieving the total in just 10.5 overs at Kensington Oval.

The West Indies' bowling attack set the tone by dismissing the USA for a modest 128. Spinner Roston Chase was the standout bowler, claiming 3-19 in his four overs. Andre Russell also contributed significantly with three wickets. The disciplined bowling restricted the USA and set a manageable target for the West Indies.

In response, Hope launched an aggressive assault from the outset, reaching his half-century in a mere 26 balls. His innings included eight towering sixes and four boundaries, showcasing his powerful strokeplay. Nicholas Pooran provided support with a quickfire 27 off 12 balls, including three sixes, as the West Indies cruised to 130-1.

This victory keeps West Indies' hopes alive for a semi-final berth. They need to win their final Group 1 game against South Africa on Sunday to secure a spot in the last four. Their superior net run rate over South Africa means a win would see them advance regardless of England's result against the USA.

Hope's explosive performance delighted the home crowd, especially with his finishing blow, a six off Saurabh Netravalkar, which sealed the victory. Hope's onslaught ensured the West Indies reached 58-0 in the powerplay, with Hope contributing 42 of those runs.

Chase expressed his delight at the team's performance, particularly enjoying the support from the home crowd. "To do it at home is a great feeling, with my parents and my friends watching," Chase said. "It's our destiny and our goal to win the World Cup so anyone we play we have to beat from here to go win it."

The West Indies now look forward to their crucial encounter against South Africa, knowing that their fate is in their own hands.
